[DJ has been having a.. hard time. To say the least. The last half of November was spent being uncharacteristically antisocial while he tried to wrangle with the fact that he very much was responsible for killing his... his... someone he cared about a lot.

So he's not exactly sober or slept well when he gets the message from Fitz, the tiny musical ping of his laptop nearly ignored before he sees the username. Only one person he knows would have something so needlessly scientific sounding.
